For the fifth consecutive year, LaGrange College has been named a “Best Value” institution by U.S. News & World Report in its annual rankings of American colleges and universities.
“Receiving this recognition affirms our commitment to providing a transformative education that is affordable for our students,” said President Susanna Baxter.
When determining its “Best Value” schools, the publication factors academic quality and cost after accounting for total expenses and financial aid.
“These are schools that are above average academically and cost considerably less than many other schools when the financial aid that they dispense in the form of need-based grants and scholarships is taken into account,” U.S. News explained.
“Families are often surprised by the amount of financial aid LaGrange College has available to its students,” said Dr. John Head, vice president for enrollment management and student experience. “The college offers grants and scholarships to help alleviate financial stress for students. We want them to know that they can pursue an education at LaGrange College at a reasonable cost.”
The institution also was ranked 12th among 99 Regional Colleges in the South and included on the publication’s list of “Top Performers on Social Mobility.”
To develop the 2024 rankings, U.S. News evaluated 1,500 bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 19 measures reflecting academic quality and graduate outcomes.
“By graduation day, 87 percent of our Class of 2023 had already received a job offer or were accepted into graduate school,” President Baxter said. “We are proud to be part of their success.”
