Your Place in Every Production Starts Here
Whether you're auditioning for scholarship consideration or stepping into your first departmental production as a student, the process at LaGrange is designed to get you working from day one. First-year students are eligible to audition and be cast their very first semester.
Prospective Student Scholarship Auditions & Tech/Design Interviews
Scholarship auditions are held for both Theatre Arts and Musical Theatre. Contact Kim Barber Knoll at 706-880-8323 to schedule your audition or interview. You're also welcome to tour campus, sit in on classes, and have a meal with current majors.
Actors Prepare two contrasting monologues, not to exceed one minute each. Choose age-appropriate material. No props or dialects, please.
Actor/Singers Prepare the monologues above, plus two songs: sixteen bars (or a verse and chorus) of an up-tempo song and a ballad. Bring tracks on your phone for accompaniment.
Stage Management, Technical, and Design Students Prepare a 4–6 minute portfolio presentation.
All students should bring a resume detailing performance and/or technical experience.
Departmental Production Auditions & Casting
All Theatre Arts majors and intended majors are required to audition for each departmental production. These are formal, closed auditions requiring two contrasting pieces not to exceed two minutes total. Directors post specific requirements before each audition. Callbacks are typically held immediately following.
Students who are not cast are assigned production roles — including stage management, run crew, properties, costumes, sound, house management, or publicity. Every major is part of every production, one way or another.
