Have you always wanted to teach but didn't know how to achieve your dream? The LaGrange College MAT program is designed for those with a four-year degree who want to become high school or middle school teachers and most K-12 certification fields including health and PE, art, and music. With the MAT at LaGrange, you can:

  • Earn your Master of Arts in Teaching and your  teacher's certification in just 13 months.
  • Certifications are available in the four core subject areas as well as a variety of non-core areas (please contact us to determine if our Pedagogy-only program will work for you).
  • Begin earning master's-level pay as soon as you begin your career as a certified teacher.

Get in the classroom quickly
The MAT program allows you to begin in June of one year and finish in June of the next. In just over one year, you can be teaching and earning master's-level pay.

Enjoy a schedule that works
MAT classes are scheduled to work within your schedule. Sessions are held during two summers and in the evening during the school year. It's even possible for you to be in the classroom with a provisional teaching certificate while you're taking graduate classes at LaGrange College.

Classes follow a hybrid model, with most class meetings conducted through a synchronous platform. Six on-campus seminar days are scheduled throughout the program (weekday during summer term and Saturday during Fall and Spring terms).

Seminar days for the 2024-25 cohort will be held on campus from 10am-4pm on the following days:

  • Monday, June 3, 2024
  • Monday, June 24, 2024 (Lesson Planning Workshop)
  • Saturday, August 24, 2024
  • Saturday, November 16, 2024
  • Saturday, February 22, 2025
  • Saturday, April 12, 2025

New cohorts begin each June, with an application deadline of May 15.
